A few years ago, I lost something I had built and loved for a long time. My routine went with it. My purpose went with it. And so did most of what I thought I knew about who I was. It was gone. No getting it back, no undoing it, no version of the story where it comes back to me.
So, I wasn't waiting on a rescue. There wasn't one coming.
And that is exactly where He met me.
The God who spoke the stars into the sky and knows every single one of them by name. The One who holds the whole universe together. That God. He was in that room with me on the worst nights of my life. He didn't send somebody in His place. He came Himself, and He stayed.
He didn't take the painful chapter away. He held me inside it.
It took me a long time to understand the difference. What I got wasn't a way out. It was a little strength on the days I had none. A reason to get up. Company inside the hard thing when there was nobody else in there with me.
He wasn't just holding me steady until the storm passed. He was building something.
I thought that loss was the end of my story. God looked at the same wreckage and saw the beginning of a brand new story. Now I walk my own land down cleared paths through the trees, and I stand in the spot where the barn is going to be. I can see it. Animals out here. Gardens coming up. Kids learning things, and grown people driving out here just to breathe and feel God's peace on them for an afternoon.
None of that was in my plan. My plan was already dead. That dream is bigger than anything I would have known to ask Him for . . . and He was already drawing it up while I was sitting in the dark thinking my life was over.
That is what He does. He doesn't hand you back the old thing. He builds you something better, and He does it right in the middle of the mess, before you can see one bit of it.
I didn't understand back then why I had to lose all of that. I'm starting to. Everything I know about starting over, I learned in the worst chapters of my life. There was no other way to learn it . . . and I wouldn't know how to sit with you in yours if I hadn't sat in mine.
Not the farm. Not this website.
The worst thing that ever happened to me, and God refusing to waste a single day of it. That's the foundation under all of this. Not my land. Not my dream. Not one thing I built with my own two hands. He took the chapter I would have ripped out of the book if He'd let me, and He turned it into the very thing that lets me sit down beside you and mean every word I say.
So nothing here is coming at you from a stage or a finish line. It's coming from a woman who lost it all, got held by God in the dark, and got handed a whole new life she never saw coming . . . and who is still out there in the dirt building it, still finding out what He's up to.
I'm not going to promise you God will fix it on your schedule. I don't know what He's going to do.
But I know He's closer than He feels. I know that not being able to feel Him doesn't mean He left. And I know He is already building something out of this, while you're still standing in the middle of it wondering if anything good is ever coming again.
He's not finished with you yet.
